Hmm. This is kind of weird because my country alone has 7,107 islands. Or are we considered only as one single island? I wonder, wonder, wonder.

These are enchantingly beautiful. I’ve always wanted like a Dorothy inspired pair of pumps. :P

“I wish so much there had been a Rae when I was growing up. It would have made my life so much easier to have had someone real on TV that I could have looked at and gone: ‘I kind of look like her. I don’t look perfect, but she’s got friends. People love her so maybe people will like me for being me. I don’t have to change. I can just be myself…’ How can kids and teenagers feel comfortable when they can’t see anyone who looks like them anywhere?” - Sharon Rooney
I have to say, My Mad Fat Diary is one of my new favorite shows. It is so honest and real, when most television shows about teenagers today are so unrealistic. Rae is a great character and the show never apologizes for how she looks. Even though her weight and her self-image are issues for her, they do not get in the way of her having friends and falling in love and having people love her back. The show also has a kickass nineties soundtrack, so that’s another bonus! But I applaud Sharon Rooney for playing Rae so thoughtfully and confidently. She is definitely someone to look up to and I look forward to seeing her onscreen for many years to come.
I love this show soooo much. Rae’s character is just so lovable. She’s actually a real beauty. ;)
Like Sharon, I kinda also wish there was this before all the shows that said you need to be thin and all to gain friends. They should make more shows like this. :P

Today, I checked out the “Narinig Ko Sa UP (Overheard at UP)” Facebook group and chanced upon a post about a conversation between two “conyo” girls in the bathroom. After reading through the comments, I felt that this was something I needed to write about.
Very well said. ;)
